NICU/PICU Nurse is responsible for providing specialized nursing care to critically ill or premature infants (NICU) and critically ill children (PICU). These nurses provide life-saving interventions, closely monitor patients, administer medications, and support families during challenging and often emotional times.
NICU: Provide specialized care for premature, critically ill, or newborn infants requiring intensive monitoring and treatment, including ventilator support, feeding assistance, and medication administration.
PICU: Provide high-acuity care for children with critical illnesses or injuries, including respiratory failure, cardiovascular issues, or recovery from major surgeries.
Continuously monitor vital signs, neurological status, and other health indicators, documenting changes and adjusting care plans as needed.
Administer medications, intravenous fluids, and nutrition as per physician orders, while monitoring the child’s response.
Manage and operate life-support equipment such as ventilators, infusion pumps, and cardiac monitors.
Recognize early signs of complications or deterioration in patients and take appropriate actions or escalate care accordingly.
